Vizio gives you Baby Yoda

We’ve featured a good amount from Vizio over the past few months, and it’s telling. It’s telling in that a consumer electronics brand doesn’t necessarily have to release a new product (say, a new TV) to actually have something new to announce. In this case, Vizio is more deeply integrating Disney+ into their platform.

As their own press release notes, Vizio owners were able to stream Disney+ previously, they just had to rely on AirPlay or Chromecast to do so. As of today, the streaming service will be natively built in to the SmartCast screen. That may seem like a minor thing, but I think it’s actually a good – and big – change.

Having to hook yet another device in to do something that feels like it should be able to be done natively is, in a word, frustrating. When it comes time to sit down and watch a show or two, the last thing you want to have to do is jump through three different hoops (and if you think that’s not the case, just look at the market for universal remotes).

By baking Disney+ right into the core of the Vizio entertainment solution, it makes it that much simpler for you “go see a Star War” – all from the comfort of your own couch, and with a single device (your TV). vizio.com
