Ornot Mission Pants: ready for the train or the trail

As someone who’s usually working from home, it might seem odd that a pair of technical chinos from a bike accessories company is catching my eye. I mean, sure, I do ride my bike on the trails (an ancient Trek Hybrid, for those wondering) but it’s not a commuter thing for me. So, what’s going on with the Ornot Mission Pants?

Why I like them

First and foremost, the Ornot Mission Pants are built with a material that has 4-way stretch. Add in the fact that they’ve got extra gusseting in the construction, and you’ve got pants that will move with you no matter what you’re doing. And yes, while that material is fully synthetic (details below), it’s got bluesign® approval, which means it’s recycled fibers used, so we’re helping keep stuff out of the landfill.

But you’re not a bike commuter…

Again, yes, that’s where the Ornot Mission Pants would shine, particularly when you roll up the cuffs to expose the reflective bits. But hear me out – in my experience, lighterweight pants like these are absolutely perfect for when you need to wear pants in warmer weather, whether you’re going to the office, out for a hike where there are a lot of mosquitos, or just chilling in a cooler house.

With the style of these – 5-pocket, including a hidden thigh pocket – the Ornot Mission Pants will not look out of place at the office, and you won’t get overheated walking to (or from) it on either side of the work day. Stopping off at an outdoor concert after work? No need to change, these will work just fine. In other words, a perfect all-around warm weather pair of pants.

How does Ornot describe them?

Fit Note ++ This generation of pants runs a little longer and looser in the leg /// These do-it-all, sewn-in-the-USA pants can take you from the trail to the office (WFH Ornot). The technical 4-way stretch woven fabric makes them light enough to ride in and durable enough to be your daily driver. Constructed with the same recycled bluesign®-approved fabric used in our mission shorts, you can count on these pants to last. Stash your valuables in the rear zippered pocket or hidden thigh pocket and get lost. Roll up the cuffs to expose rear reflective detailing when you’re riding.

Feel good (in them) and do good knowing that the recycled fibers used in construction reduce energy and water consumption while cutting greenhouse gases and waste from landfills. Sewn right here in the SF Bay Area, these pants are perfect for every activity, Ornot.

Wrapping things up

Now, for all you tall folks out there (like myself), take heart! The Ornot Mission Pants come in two different inseam lengths, either 32″ or 34″! Often we’ll see pants like these top out at 32″, so I’m very glad to see that 34″ option there as well. There are a variety of waist sizes as well, and the choice of four different colors. If you want to get a pair, they’re going for $148 directly over at ornotbike.com
