Apple’s Logic Pro Audio updates, and it’s awesome with iPad

Logic Pro 10.5 was just updated, and it makes a lot of sense with iPad. Basically, you get all the pro production tools you had before, but with new tools for electronic music production.

What’s new:

  • Live Loops – being able to cue, play, and perform loops, live, and have them recorded into Logic. This is very useful with the iPad Logic Remote. It works a little like a Novation Launchpad.
  • Sampler and Quick Sampler – Sampler lets you edit complex multi-sampled sounds with a visual interface. Quick Sampler is about taking a sound and turning it into an instrument as fast as possible.
  • Beat Creation – new tools for programming beats using an interface that’s kind of similar to a drum machine. There are drum synths, a step sequencer, and more.
  • Logic Remote – the free iPad app that lets you control, trigger, and perform loops.

?Logic Pro X has always been my one and only DAW. The workflow is unmatched, and the built-in sound libraries have been essential to my music from the beginning. Now with the addition of Quick Sampler and Drum Machine Designer, I?m getting back hours I used to spend in the studio building sounds and kits. This lets me spend more time writing new verses and editing 70-take vocals.? ? Finneas O?Connell, Grammy Award-winning producer: Billie Eilish, ?Bad Guy? and the album ?When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go??

And if you open up Logic Pro 10.5 and go to file > new from template > demo projects & there’s the Ocean Eyes project. You can edit all of Finneas’ work right there.

What kind of sounds can you get using the new tools and iPad as remote for triggering them?
