The RGB Critter, for all your light-painting needs

Sometimes when I go trawling through Kickstarter (ok, most of the time) I have no idea what I’ll run across. Every now and again, I find something completely unexpected, and that’s what we’ve got in the form of the RGB Critter, a color-changing flashlight with a surprising number of attachments.

When it comes to light painting, there are amazing things that can be done, creating some very cool images – both still and video. That, I think, is where the RGB Critter is meant to shine. Along with all of the modes it has, the attachments really lend themselves to this kinetic visual art – the Orbit Bitwhip, Jupiter Rope, Fyber Kit, and Orb.

Now, with the Orb, I could see the RGB Critter being more widely applicable for home and outdoors use. However, there’s another attachment that really caught my eye. They call it the SOL Saber, and yeah – it turns it into a light saber. One that is motion and sound sensitive due to the tech built into the flashlight itself. If that’s not enough, they’ve got a connector so you can live out your Darth Maul dreams.

Pricing for the RGB Critter starts at $82 for the RGB Critter itself, and then the various attachments can be added on starting at $34 (and then going up from there). If you’re interested, check out the campaign quickly, as it wraps up on October 31 at 12:59pm Central (GMT-5) – so you’ve got just over 24 hours to pull the trigger. campaign page
