Though I’ve never gotten any in, I’ve long been fascinated by stuff that uses Nixie tubes for displaying information, most commonly the time. Then I ran across the NixieX Tube Clock and Speaker, which is a superb mashup of old-look tech with modern bits.
As you can see, the Nixie tubes make up the clock at the top portion of the device. Below that, you’ve got that super retro audio setup, with the VU monitor, and knobs and switches to control things. There is, of course, the small speaker over the side of the device, allowing you to not just use this as an alarm clock, but also to pump out the jams from your phone.
If you want to pick one of these up, you’ll need to move fast. The campaign ends on February 16, 2023 at 6am Central. Even with pricing starting at $374, the campaign for the NixieX Tube Clock and Speaker is fully funded, with delivery anticipated for April of this year. campaign page
