Shinola + Benchmade = a titanium delight

As you may – or may not – know, Shinola has expanded over the past few years from building watches in Detroit, to all manner of items that could be considered lifestyle items. I’m a fan of the brand (given my connections to the area), but for the life of me I never knew they made knives. One of their latest is sure to catch many eyes – the Shinola + Benchmade Titanium Pocket Knife.

You see, we’re used to brands expanding into areas that are well outside of their wheelhouse and coming up with things that are, well, all over the map in terms of consistency and quality. Here, with the Shinola + Benchmade Titanium Pocket Knife, that should not be a concern. Myself, I’ve never handled a Benchmade knife, but they have a pretty solid reputation out there in the knife world.

And sure, in grand Detroit tradition, the Shinola + Benchmade Titanium Pocket Knife is basically an exercise in badge engineering. By that, I mean you’ve got a Benchmade knife here – through and through – with some Shinola logos showing up on the pocket clip and the blade. Still, having a fully-titanium handle (and here, it’s a single piece milled, not two pieces screwed together) should make for a delightfully lightweight carry.

Given the overall size and blade shape, the Shinola + Benchmade Titanium Pocket Knife seems like a great option for very literal every day carry sort of a knife. And in fact, I found this review over on BladeReviews that gets really down into the details and seems to echo that idea of EDC.
