PKT44 Utility Knife: closing soon

If it’s not clear by know, having a good knife on you as part of your daily carry is an idea I subscribe to. Myself, this takes the form of a pocket knife, and it gets used for breaking down boxes, opening up packages, or scraping something (to name a few). It’s a versatile tool, and I like having it with me. If you prefer yours to use a utility blade, but want something that looks different than the hardware store utility knife, there’s the PKT44.

PKT44: what is it?

The world of fixed blade knives is something that’s quite onto itself. Many of them are considered “neck blades” as the sheath hangs from your neck. The PKT44, though, that sheath is ready to clip on to wherever you want. What makes this knife stand out are three things. First off, you’ve got that handle, made of familiar G10 composite. It’s done up in a style that will fit nicely into either hand. Second, you’ve got that sheath that has a backing plate that’s ready to handle a number of aftermarket clip systems.

Finally, you have the blade. With your traditional pocket knife, you’re dealing with sharpening blades. With the PKT44, you’re using standard utility blades. Yes, the project page shows some flashy custom engraved blades, but these are the blades you can find at any hardware store. This means you can get a fresh, sharp blade any time you want – you just need to use a Phillips head screwdriver to open things up.

How to get yours

Pricing starts at about $64, which is definitely more premium over the $10 or so you’d pay for your plain utility knife, but it definitely has some undeniable style. For me, the fixed blade setup just isn’t what I go for, or need in my day-to-day. That’s just me, though, because this campaign is way over-funded. If you want to get one, it closes out on August 10, 2024, with delivery anticipated for in September. campaign page
