Artilect Darkstart Fusion Jacket: Introducing:

It’s springtime, so you know what that means – you’ve got to think about carrying something with you to stay dry when the inevitable downpour comes up out of nowhere in your day. We’ve talked about a few new options this spring, and another just caught our attention – the Artilect Darkstart Fusion Jacket.

Artilect might sound familiar, as we just reviewed their Supermoon Hoodie not that long ago (you can see that here). While that hoodie was focused on being a very warm layer (with 260gsm insulation), the Darkstart is a bit thinner (it has 60gsm insulation), and is all about shedding the water that comes down from the sky. It’s got 4-way stretch and is breathable, which means you should be able to be active in this (say, going hiking in the woods or even just doing yardwork) even when it’s quite damp outside.

That all comes down to just how the Artilect Darkstart Fusion Jacket is made water resistant. While that thick layer of vinyl or rubber you had as a kid in your raincoat kept you dry, it still got you sweaty like nothing. The jacket relies on a permanent DWR coating that keeps the water out, but will still let moisture out if you work up a sweat.

In other words, all of the features are here that are the makings of a really good rain jacket – a deep hood (at least based on our Supermoon experience), three pockets, an adjustable waist, and that aforementioned DWR coating. If you’re wanting to get one, they’re available in both men’s (here) and women’s styles (here) in a variety of sizes and colors. Pricing is $300, so if you want more details before purchasing, that’s fair. We are working on getting one in for a hands-on review, so keep an eye out for that. artilect.studio
