Grado is cutting the wires with the GT220

Many a brand has created what they tout as the best true wireless earbuds to hit the market. Some of these have been quite nice (see our review on the Audio Technica ones), and others have been better suited to the bargain bin. Well, when a company like Grado puts their name on a pair – as they have with the Grado GT220 – then one is inclined to believe it’s a top-shelf play.

On the surface, the Grado GT220 has a lot of the specs that we see from other brands – tidy battery life (almost enough for a full day), a case that will recharge the buds, and a case itself you can charge via a wire (USB-C in this case) or via wireless. With the Grado name, though, the sound, well, it just has to be there, doesn’t it?

Well, here’s what they’ve got to say about that (and those specs listed on down below):

?I?m pretty excited about finally releasing the GT220. We?ve been working on these for the last two years, and I?ve been using them almost every day for the past couple months. The battery life and charging options are some my favorite parts, really happy with not having to worry about if they?re charged or not. They kind of just always are. Now, you’re going to expect the higher-ups at a company to be big on their own product. But my impression, well, Grado isn’t the sort of brand to do that sort of snake oil salesmanship. Perhaps just my own head canon for how this brand operates, but they sit pretty high in my own estimation. Given that, I think it’s worth giving these the benefit of the doubt. Of course, when you’ve got a $259 pricetag – with no ANC included – a lot is being staked on that name and development cycle.
