You know Western Rise, right? If you don’t, I’d say you need to put them on your radar. I’m a big fan of their Evolution pants (talked about here) as they’re perfect for travel, the outdoors, or just lounging around. Well, if you want something a bit more action-oriented, then the Western Rise Move collection is where it’s at.
That’s not to say that the Evolution pant can’t be active – it can be, given the 4-way stretch. The Move collection, though, that’s more for truly being active. First up, let’s talk the Western Rise Movement Short (available in black or blue-grey). They went with a polyester fabric here to give things breathability, stain resistance, and water resistance. Throw in a zippered pocket (so you don’t lose your key on a run) and mesh pockets (for a quick dip in the water to cool off) and you’re ready to hit the trails. Depending on your preferences, the 7″ inseam might feel short, but it looks to hit a good length to me, particularly if you’re planning to use them as running shorts.
If you’re getting new shorts, why not a new t-shirt as well? Here, the Western Rise Session Tee (in black or ash). This is a micro-mesh shirt (so, similar to other active t-shirts) that places an emphasis on breathability and stretch. This one has a bit of an interesting hemline (picks up on the leg slit of the shorts, actually) so you probably wouldn’t use it as a traditional undershirt, but by itself on the trail with the Move shorts, or untucked under a button-up shirt (perhaps their Limitless Merino?) you’ll be all set.
Now, when the weather cools down, or you just want something longer to lounge about in, the Move collection still has you covered, with the Western Rise Spectrum Jogger (in black, blue-grey, or ash). For this, they went with a warp knit polyester (so it feels like a softer pair of joggers) that allowed plenty of stretch, as well as water and stain resistance. In some ways, they feel similar to the Evolution pant, just going away from the 5-pocket style to something more athleisure. Like with the shorts, you’ve got the zippered pocket, and the legs look like they taper down nicely for a more tailored look than your average joggers.
The whole of the Western Rise Move collection is available now, and actually on a bit of a sale until the end of July. The Movement Short normally retails for $89 but is on sale for $71.20; the Session Tee is marked down from $68 to $54; and finally, the Spectrum Jogger goes down from $128 to $102.40. So, 20% off across the line (and the site, I believe) until the end of the month. I rather like what Western Rise produces, and I think you may as well. westernrise.com
