Garmin plans to acquire premium audio manufacturer JL Audio

In a strategic move that promises to bring premium audio integration across a broad range of markets and products, Garmin Ltd., the multinational technology company, announced its plans to acquire JL Audio. Known for their design and manufacture of high-quality audio solutions, JL Audio caters to a diverse clientele, including marine, aftermarket automotive, powersports, home, and RV customers.

Garmin’s President and CEO, Cliff Pemble, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition. He lauded JL Audio’s extensive audio experience and global reputation for delivering premium audio experiences. The integration of JL Audio into the Garmin family, he believes, will open up new opportunities for providing premium audio features across Garmin’s extensive range of markets and products. JL Audio, with over four decades of experience under its belt, is a leading provider of premium audio products and accessories.

Their offerings include speakers, amplifiers, subwoofers, and other audio components. JL Audio’s Founder and CEO, Lucio Proni, echoed Pemble’s excitement, stating that JL Audio shares Garmin’s vision to deliver unique technology solutions backed by substantial R&D and engineering. Based in Miramar, Florida, JL Audio employs over 600 associates. The acquisition, subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions, is expected to be finalized by the end of 2023. Post-acquisition, all existing JL Audio products will continue to be supported, ensuring customers continue to receive the same high level of customer service.

Garmin Ltd., known for revolutionizing the aviation, automotive, fitness, marine, and outdoor markets with its products, is dedicated to helping people make the most of their time pursuing their passions. The company, incorporated in Switzerland, has principal subsidiaries in the United States, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom. The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed. As with any business decision, this acquisition comes with its share of forward-looking statements and potential risks. However, both Garmin and JL Audio seem optimistic about the future, ready to leverage their combined expertise to create innovative audio solutions.
