FORLOH Airalite Rain Jacket: Introducing

As the saying goes, when spring hits, that means that there’s rain showers coming down. Frankly, that goes for summer and fall, as well. That’s why I always had some sort of packable rain jacket in my work bag, and whenever we’re camping, I like to have some sort of a waterproof layer with me. We just learned about the FORLOH Airalite Rain Jacket, and it looks like a great option to add to your gear mix, especially if you’re headed out on the trail, into the woods, or on the lake.

FORLOH Airalite Rain Jacket: Fabric and Weight

Sure, you could opt for one of those super 100% waterproof jackets, but those tend to be thick and heavy, and not very breathable. Sure, the rain will never hit your skin (or clothes), but you’ll feel damp anyways just from the body heat that builds up inside such a jacket. That’s why we like the FORLOH Airalite Rain Jacket, as it focuses not just on keeping the water away, but also on breathability. Frankly, that’s an impressive combination for a jacket that’s supposed to weigh in at just 112g (perfect for the backpack). How do they do that? Here’s what FORLOH says:

The Airadigm™ Pulse Plasma technology applies the DWR treatment in trace amounts using an electrical charge to bond the fabric’s fibers. In turn, the pores of the fabric remain open and result in a substantially more breathable and air-permeable garment. Besides being a more durable and longer-lasting treatment, The Airadigm Pulse Plasma technology results in a soft, supple, quiet fabric compared to most waterproof fabrics.

The perfect balance of durability and protection, 30-denier military grade rip-stop nylon construction for overall strength paired with ePTFE membrane and a lightweight 20-denier tricot backer to block out the elements and keep the user dry and comfortable. The Airalite is equipped with RECCO® technology for search and rescue detecting as well as boasts an impressive waterproof rating while maintaining performance-ready breathability and a windproof rating to handle extreme winds.

Price

It sounds almost too good to be true, right? We’ve all run across an outdoor gear brand that promises much more than it can deliver. For now, we’re willing to give the made-in-America brand the benefit of the doubt. That said, we’re working to get in a review sample of the jacket, so we can test it out in the usually-quite-wet midwest spring. When you’re putting out $399 for a piece of gear like this, you want to be sure it’s going to do everything that is promised. In the meantime, you can check the jacket out (as well as the matching pants, or all their other items) directly at forloh.com
