Full-zip hoodies are great for all year, in my book, and they’re generally a layer that gets packed along for when we head off camping. They’re a solid no fuss option, and give adjustable warmth (and are easy to clean the campfire smoke out of). Want something that’s maybe a bit more oriented to keeping your beverage at hand (and your phone dry)? Then the California Cowboy PCH Hoodie will likely be of interest.
Like your standard hoodie, the California Cowboy PCH Hoodie is fully cotton, though at a heavier weight of french terry than you might normally be used to. Still, should be a decent layer for cooler evenings, and the double-layer hood will help retain heat if that’s the priority. The colors here, with the sunset strips along the chest are going to be the eye catchers. Still, there are some nice touches hiding in the design, which you can see above.
Up front, the California Cowboy PCH Hoodie has two standard kangaroo pockets, with the left side having an extra pocket to stash a bottle opener (which they also include). Up on the chest, you’ve got a loop to hang your sunglasses from, or even clip a light on there should you need to. Also, on the inside of the hoodie, you’ve got a small pocket sewn in next to the zipper where you can stash a pen or marker.
Around the back of the California Cowboy PCH Hoodie, you’ve got some really interesting touches. To go along with their bottle opener pocket, there’s a pocket where you can stash a bottle of your favorite beverage, should you need your hands free. Could also work to stash a trail map earlier in the day as well.
The other pocket the California Cowboy PCH Hoodie has on the back is perhaps the most interesting. This is purposely built to keep the contents dry, whether that be your phone or even some kindling for starting the fire at night. When you’re camping, you can never be quite sure when the rain will come, or if you might stop off at a river or lake. So, this sort of pocket is really a clever – and useful – addition.
As you can see from the photos, the California Cowboy PCH Hoodie come in two colors, white or navy. Both feature the orange and red stripes, and have all of the features we walked through above. Be forewarned, this one is going to be a bit more than your big box hoodie you might normally pick up. How much? It runs $148 direct from the brand.
