In the world of technology, every detail matters, especially when it comes to the giants of the industry like Apple. Recently, there has been a buzz about Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 series, and the focus is on an unexpected component: the USB-C cable.
The story began to unfold when images of what appeared to be Apple’s braided USB-C cables for the iPhone 15 series surfaced online. The plot thickened when an Apple researcher, Majin Bu, leaked additional details about the cable. According to Bu, the iPhone 15 USB-C cable will be a generous 1.6 meters long, a significant increase from the 1-meter USB-C-to-Lightning cable that comes with the iPhone 14 series. But it’s not just the length that’s changing. The new cable is also rumored to be thicker and more resistant, promising durability.
However, there’s a catch. Despite these enhancements, the cable might still support only USB 2.0 data transfer speeds, which are limited to 480Mbps. This means that the data transmission speed for the new iPhones might not be any faster than the current models. However, there’s a twist in the tale. Apple might have a different plan for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models. Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously reported that these models might support at least USB-3.2 or Thunderbolt 3, which offer data transfer speeds up to 20Gbps and 40Gbps respectively.
This speculation was further fueled by ChargerLAB, who released images of the USB-C connectors made for the iPhone 15 series, suggesting that the new phones will support Thunderbolt technology. In another interesting development, the iPhone 15 USB-C cables might not have MFi (Made For iPhone) restrictions. This is significant because Apple usually limits the functionality and support for non-MFi third-party accessories, essentially nudging users to buy from the company. With the removal of these restrictions, users might have more freedom in choosing their accessories.
As we eagerly await the release of the new iPhones, these leaks and rumors add an element of intrigue to the anticipation. Whether these speculations will hold true or not, only time will tell. But one thing is certain: the world will be watching when Apple unveils its latest marvel.
