Apple has recently announced that it plans to add additional features to try to cut down on misuse of its AirTag products.
A new problem found with Apple’s bluetooth-enabled location tracker is its capabilities for malicious parties to plant the tiny devices on other people without their knowledge. Currently, AirTags take hours to “chirp”, or play sounds to notify others of its presence, and these chirps are often too quiet to hear.
Apple is implementing new features, including louder chirps and faster detection time, in order to alert people sooner if they are being seemingly tracked by AirTags. These features will hopefully cut down on misuse of the product by bad actors.
