You say you want a more complex ?digital? watch? Then the YES Watch has you covered

The Yes WorldWatch V7 is an interesting beastie in the world of super-complex digital watches. Sure, you?ll get the standard day and date functionality, along with a time, stopwatch, and count up / count down tracking. But the Yes WorldWatch V7 has more up it?s sleeve, and it just brought a fun new twist to the table.

You see, the Yes WorldWatch V7 offers a lot of additional timing that you might not expect. Yes, you get a 24-hour bezel to help track a second time zone, and a healthy dose of the ever-fun tritium tubes on the inner chapter ring to help light things up. But what about those extra lines on the large LCD display, and the circle where a sundial would go? Well, how about some moonphase (the sundial) and twilight, sunset, morning twilight, and sunrise times (all those extra lines). Oh, and don?t forget the moonrise, which is indicated right next to the inner chapter ring. Basically, anything you could want to know about the celestial bodies that are part and parcel of telling time? You?ve got in this watch.

As you might expect, you can?t really run all of this stuff in the Yes WorldWatch V7 off of a simple coin cell battery. Instead, you?re going to have to recharge the watch. In my original article over on WWR you can see that there are contacts on the back for a custom charging hooking. Well, those contacts could corrode or be gummed up (the watch is on your wrist and in the elements, after all). Why not wireless charging? Well, friend, that?s precisely what they?ve managed to do.

Yes, it took some custom design for the induction coil, and redesigning the caseback, but the Yes WorldWatch V7 will now (hopefully) be able to offer wireless recharging (via the widely adopted Qi standard, so you may even have a wireless pad available already) while still maintaining the 3 month battery life, and improving the water-fastness of the overall construction. All in all, seems like a win-win, no?

At this point, while they?ve figured out the technical hurdles to getting wireless charging built into the Yes WorldWatch V7, they need the help of the folks who love technology and watches.
