Woman reunited with her dead daughter in VR

In what could be either the saddest or happiest thing you see today, a woman on a Korean TV show called Meeting You was filmed interacting with her dead daughter in VR.

The video is quite moving although the uncanny valley is strong here. The machinations necessary to make the experience realistic are pretty rough and the graphics looks like they need a bit more work but we’re literally a step away from this being immersive and wildly realistic as well as potentially therapeutic.

The future is going to be very weird, very rough, and sometimes very beautiful. Here’s hoping it’s mostly the latter.
