Universal Audio has released two new modeling microphones, the Sphere DLX and the Sphere LX. The DLX is the higher-end model, costing $1,499 and emulating 38 classic ribbon, condenser, and dynamic studio mics.
The LX is the smaller and cheaper model, costing $999 and emulating 20 ribbon, condenser, and dynamic mic models.
What does this mean? Both mics allow users to change the mic type, polar pattern and other characteristics after tracking with any interface, in any DAW. They also come with Apollo interface presets designed to help users attain professional-sounding audio quickly with low latency. The mics are now shipping worldwide and are relatively affordable compared to the premium gear they emulate.
