Recently released: Campfire Audio Supermoon

The last few times we’ve written about Campfire Audio (for instance, as seen here), we’ve focused on their more affordable range of in-ear monitor (IEM) style of earbuds. Well, what if need to go to the other end of the spectrum, and want (or need) something very high end? Then the recently-introduced Campfire Audio Supermoon may fit that bill.

So, what makes the Campfire Audio Supermoon high end? Well, to start with, you need to get custom molds made of your ears, so that the outer shell will fit in perfectly. Then, these are 3D-printed to get that perfect fit (in either audiophile or artist configurations) and interior tuning. The shell is a single piece (less pieces mean it’s less likely to have problems), capped off with a stainless steel bit where the electronics go in.

For that, the Campfire Audio Supermoon relies on a planar magnetic driver. Don’t know what those are? Well, this article will help explain it. To put it in simpler terms, it makes for a much more compact way of reproducing audio, including some very low-end bass. Combine that with the customized interior of the shell, and you’ll be getting sound that’s rather unlike any other earbuds you’ve ever plugged in.

Along with all of that, you can choose what sort of cabling you need (as with their other headphones), including cables that are a bit longer. Then again, with their connectors, you could always swap in different cables down the road as well. All told, the Campfire Supermoon looks like it should satisfy the discerning audiophile.
