PhotoTag eInk Tracker: now funding

PhotoTag

There are a number of different styles of tracking tags out there, including some very popular ones. If you want something more than just an unobtrusive device to stick somewhere (say, the inside pocket of a bag), your options have been limited. With the PhotoTag eInk Tracker, you can get a whole lot more.

PhotoTag eInk Tracker: what it is

At its core, the PhotoTag eInk Tracker is a small, Bluetooth-enabled tracking device. It is able to work across both Apple and Android phones, so that should broaden the tracking capabilities. Where it really starts to differentiate itself is with the the 4-color eInk display that is built in. One on level, you can have it display your favorite picture, giving a bit of custom feel to whatever you have it attached to (or make it easier to pick your backpack out).

If you misplace what the tracker is attached to, you can have switch to displaying your contact information, so someone can call you when they find the bag. Or, if you’ve misplaced your keys somewhere in the house, you can have it play an alarm sound, making it easier to track down where it is.

Wrapping things up

What’s surprising is that the PhotoTag eInk Tracker is available at earlybird pricing that makes it quite competitive with other (screen-less) trackers. While they’re anticipated to have an MSRP of $51, you can get them in the crowdfunding campaign for just $29, or a 3-pack for $79. Not too shabby for a useful device that has a user-replaceable battery in it. The campaign is full funded, and runs through March 4, 2025; delivery is anticipated for April 2025. campaign page
