The Nothing Phone 2, which has been on the market for two months, is gearing up for its third significant software update. This update is set to introduce four new features to the smartphone, alongside a range of fixes and improvements to enhance user experience. The update, which is yet to be released in the United States, has had its changelog appear in Germany.
Nothing Phone 2: Features
According to Max Jambor, who shared the details, the new features include a compass widget, pocket mode, OTG compatibility toggle, and support for Glyph Progress in a new app. The compass widget is designed to provide users with more information when they swipe down on their screens.
Meanwhile, the pocket mode will disable all touch capabilities when the phone detects it’s inside a pocket. A new user interface will also indicate when the phone is in this mode. However, details about the look of this UI and whether the pocket mode is activated automatically or manually remain unclear. Perhaps the most intriguing addition is the support for Glyph Progress in Zomato.
Glyph Progress is a unique feature of the Nothing Phone 2 that utilizes the LED Glyphs on the phone’s back to display the progress of certain tasks while the phone is asleep. Currently, only Uber supports this feature. The final addition is an improved “OTG compatibility” toggle, which can be found under connected devices and connection preferences in the settings.
The update also brings a slew of fixes and improvements, including increased screen recorder capture resolution, adjusted keyboard animation speed, improved haptic feedback, better NFC and Bluetooth connection stability, minor UI adjustments, and bug fixes. The update file size is approximately 99MB, mirroring the size of the Nothing OS 2.0.2 patch that primarily enhanced the camera’s performance. us.nothing.tech
