Keep your food away from gators with the Bote Kula 10

Up here in the Midwest, running into gators isn’t really that much of a concern (though we did have one in a pond the other summer in Chicago, so who knows). Still, that’s a claim that implies that these coolers are rough and tumble, and ready to get tossed in the back of the car and hauled to the beach and campsite. That’s what the Kula 10 is offering.

What is it?

You can think of the Bote Kula 10 as a widened version of their Kula 5. If you’re not familiar with these, imagine that your favorite cooler and a 5-gallon bucket had kids together. That’s your basic format – a bucket – that’s gotten layered up with insulation, and has an exterior shell of roto-molded plastic that makes it tough, as well as helps to keep the cold in.

Why we think it’s great

Really, these days, if you can afford one, a roto-molded cooler is really the way to go, as they keep things cold so much better than those inexpensive coolers you can find out there. With Kula, though, they’ve really got a committment to making their coolers flexible. Their lids have a Magnepod system, where you can attach stuff (say, a cup holder) magnetically. Addiitonally, with their format and construction, the coolers can easily double as a seat or even a stepstool to get up at stuff in the cargo basket.

For the Bote Kula 10, what we REALLY like is the new accessory kit that will be coming along. With this, you get an ice pack that slides into a slot in the cooler, dividing it down the middle. Then you get a basket that nestles into one side, and a cutting board that covers that basket, giving you a work surface. The ability to easily divide the cooler allows you to keep things organized, and if you need more space, well, you don’t have to use the division.

Where do I get it?

If you want a Bote Kula 10, it’s available now for $375 in seven different color schemes. If you’re looking for the accessory kit, that’s coming later for $60 (and you can sign up to be notified when they’re available). These look pretty cool, and we’ll be working on a review of the Bote Kula 5 here soon, so we’ll be able to let you know how this cooler line performs. boteboards.com

KULA 10 Features:

  • Gatorshell Construction– Roto-molded plastic construction that led the Gator Proof Alliance (GPA) to certify these as “Gator Proof.” Tough enough for you to sit, stand, jump, or hit with a sledge hammer. Food grade plastic – just because it’s tough doesn’t mean it isn’t soft enough for your food.
  • Insulation – BOTE conducted extensive cold testing on the KULA in various conditions and found that it consistently outperforms in retaining ice, even in hot weather. To enhance its strength, insulation is injected into the KULA after the Gatorshell construction.
  • Convenient Carry Handle: The KULA features a sturdy and comfortable carry handle, making it easy to transport to picnics, campsites, fishing trips, or any other outdoor gathering.
  • Bottle Jaws –An integrated stainless steel bottle opener, ensuring that you always have a convenient tool on hand. Because let’s face it, every cooler should have a built-in bottle opener.
  • Sticky Feet – Equipped with sticky rubber feet, the KULA stays in place without sliding around, providing stability for various uses. It can serve as a step stool, sitting stool, or even a casting platform, making it versatile for different activities.
