Introducing: Able Carry Daily Backpack

Earlier this week, we brought you our hands-on review of the Able Carry Max backpack (you can read that here). I found it to work out perfectly as a bag that can do dual-duty as both a commuter as well as a travel backpack. On the other hand, if you want something a bit smaller just for your day-to-day, well, that’s where the Able Carry Daily Backpack comes into the picture.

So, let’s address that sizing right off the bat. While the Max offered a roomy 30L capacity (carrying all your work gear plus clothes for a few days), the Able Carry Daily Backpack comes in a more compact 20L. This means that you’ve got a single large zippered section to get all of your gear into. However, if this is just your commuting to work bag, it looks like it’ll fit all of the essentials.

The Able Carry Daily Backpack also has plenty of organization built into internal section, with a dedicated spot to swallow up a 15″ laptop, as well as smaller pockets to hold your notebook, media player, and the like. The side that’s on the bit that “flaps” down also has pockets, which looks like another good spot to tuck away things like headphones and perhaps an umbrella. Just like on the Max, you’ve got some external zippered pockets as well.

One of those is on the front of the main flap of the Able Carry Daily Backpack, which is a good spot to tuck away anything you need to have quick access to, such as your keys or a book. There’s also one more zippered pocket that’s a bit more hidden, and that’s at the top of the bag, by grab handle. Again, this is another good spot for things you need quick access to, but that is a bit more hidden than the others.

The Able Carry Daily Backpack also offers some additional points for hanging things like a bike lock off of, and there’s even some loops in the right spot so you could put some locks (your call if they’re TSA approved or not) to lock that main zipper into place for a bit more security.

While I found the Max to be a perfect companion for how I use a bag for work, I can see the smaller Able Carry Daily Backpack being a very popular choice as well. It shares a lot of the same design and appearance, and still offers a lot of organization options. Another bonus for those looking for a more compact bag – it comes in at about half the price of the Max, just running at $128 in Olive or Black Cordura (their XPAC options in black or navy blue are sold out at the moment). ablecarry.com
