Hi-MARKR Titanium: funding closing soon

It seemed for quite a while, pens and pencils were all the rage for EDC crowdfunding campaigns. There were even a few campaigns to make a metal shell for the ubiquitous Sharpie (and Sharpie themselves made a steel version). That seems to have tapered off, though. So, I was pretty surprised to run across a refillable marker/highlighter, the Hi-MARKR Titanium.

Hi-MARKR Titanium: what it is

As you can see in that photo there, the Hi-MARKR Titanium is comprised of a four-piece outer shell (including the cap), with a tip and ink cartridge housed inside. I’ve seen cartridges like these before in other liquid highlighters, so I’m hopeful that these will be a standard, easy to find down the road.

What we like about it

Other than the refill capability, we like the fact that the Hi-MARKR Titanium comes – out of the box – with the ability to switch to a standard marker as well. You just open it up, swap things out, and you’re on the way. For the part that’s not in the body of the marker, they have a silicone cover that keeps things from drying out.

We also like that they’re using magnets to hold the cap in place, and that you have the choice between whether you want (or need) a pocket clip on the marker. This lets you control the sizing of what you’re carrying, as well as the overall aesthetics of the design.

Wrapping things up

Made of titanium, this is a marker that is definitely going to last you a good, long time. Even if it’s banging around in your bag, the marker should be none the worse for wear. Sure, the anodizing might get some battle scars, but that’s the reward for a life well lived. Or just opt for the stonewashed version of the Hi-MARKR Titanium, and then you don’t have to worry about it.

If you want to back this fully-funded project, do so before it closes out on August 8th, at 8pm Central. Pricing starts at $67 for the stonewashed version. You can check things out over at the campaign page

Hi-MARKR Titanium Features

  • Compact size for convenient carry, only 100 mm [3.94″] long and 14 mm [0.55″] diameter
  • The clipless cap design significantly reduces the overall length, making it much easier to carry in your pocket
  • If you prefer a pocket clip, we offer an extended cap with a titanium clip as an add-on upgrade
  • Chisel shaped felt tip for wide coverage, pointed corner tip use for narrow lines
  • Titanium body and cap will withstand extreme use and abuse
  • The magnetic cap ensures a firm closure to the body, and also posts to the rear of the marker to create a comfortable length in your hand when in use
  • This magnetic cap feature also allows for the quick, pull-to-remove operation of conventional markers which eliminates a cumbersome threaded cap design.
  • Uses standard refills, which we include with all rewards. The refills are also available at TEC Accessories (and our reseller network) for any of your future needs
  • Both the custom magnet and precision machined tip retainer provide an airtight seal to prevent the tip from drying out
  • Unlike disposable highlighters and markers, our tip module is replaceable. If you damage the tip or it gets worn out over time you can easily replace it. You can also store multiple tip/refill assemblies for quick and easy changeout
