Google is reportedly gearing up to enhance the stylus handwriting experience for Pixel Tablet users. The tech giant is said to be introducing new settings that allow users to adjust the handwriting speed and stroke width, according to Android insider Mishaal Rahman.
The Pixel Tablet, which supports the USI 2.0 stylus standard, allows users to employ any pen compatible with this standard for a variety of tasks such as drawing, writing, and highlighting. The upcoming changes promise to significantly improve this experience. Rahman’s recent post on X (previously known as Twitter) provides a sneak peek into the new handwriting support on the Pixel Tablet. Screenshots reveal that upon connecting a USI 2.0 stylus to the tablet, users will be presented with options to select a “default notes app” and “write in text fields.”
Choosing the latter will lead users to Gboard’s new stylus handwriting settings, where they can tweak the handwriting speed and stroke width to their preference. Additionally, a “Try it” button will be available, enabling users to test the new stylus handwriting gestures. These include writing, deleting, selecting, inserting, joining words, and creating a new line. However, it’s worth noting that these new Gboard stylus handwriting settings are not yet operational. Although they are visible on the Pixel Tablet for the informant who tipped off Rahman, they are not currently functional. Despite this, it’s anticipated that the feature is on the brink of being launched, promising an enhanced user experience for Pixel Tablet owners.
