Get ready for winter with the WORXNitro 40V Power Share 20 in. Snow Blower

Even though we had a brief bump in temperatures earlier this week, we’re back down into the cooler temps, and that means that winter is just around the corner. Time to dig out the snow shovels, the ice melt, and dig out the snow blower from the depths of the garage and ensure it’s still working. If it’s not firing up, or you don’t have one already, you might be interested in the WORXNitro 40V Power Share 20 in. Snow Blower.

What is it?

Well, it’s a cordless electric single-stage snowblower. Single-stage means it’s just the impeller on the front scooping and throwing the snow (whereas a two-stage will add an auger in the throw chute as well). This means it will be perfect for fairly dry snow. In my experience (read: with the snowblower I currently have), very wet snow tends to just clog in the chute, and it ends up being more work than just shoveling. With the right snow conditions, though, there’s nothing to be mad about to be able to clear a 10″ wide path at one pass.

Why would you want it?

In my experience, an electric yard tool will be much simpler to start, run, and maintain as compared to the gas-powered counterpart. Yes, you do have the batteries that you need to charge up (and please, don’t store them out in a cold garage), but past that, maintenance is dead simple. No carbs to drain, spark plugs to replace, and so on. Pop the battery in, push a button (gone is the pull start!), and away you go.

A big consideration then is going to be what battery ecosystem you want to buy into. If you’re already in the WORX family of products, then you’ll be happy here, as these batteries should swap among the tools; the snow blower comes with two 20V, 4.0Ah max lithium batteries to hit the 40V output that the snowblower demands. Past that, if you can afford it, you’ll also want to get a brushless motor (which this one is) as they tend to be more efficient and longer-lasting.

Where can you get one?

You can get it directly from Worx for $439.99 (once they have it in stock), over on Amazon for a bit of a discount, or at your local big box store that carries Worx products (Lowes or Walmart, for instance). Oh, we should note, the blower also comes with the dual-port charger, and you should be able to charge things back up in two hours, so you can get out there and keep up with the snow. worx.com
