Fly through space with the Govee Galaxy Light Projector Pro

Over here at KN, we know Govee for all sorts of interesting RGB lighting solutions (some of which we’ve reviewed and written about). Well, they don’t just have lights to put outdoors or up on the wall. What it you want a projector to put some gentle lighting into a room at night? That’s where their newer Govee Galaxy Light Projector Pro comes in.

What is it?

Think of it like a projector that’s gotten smashed together with, say, a kaleidoscope. Rather than needing to hook up your phone or other media device to it (like, say, a multimedia projector), you’re instead having it project out images automatically. In this case, it’s to make it feel like you’re flying through space, so this is best fit to projecting onto the ceiling or a large wall.

It should be noted that it’s not just one static effect that it’s projecting, either. It’s got thirty-eight preset lighting effects, once you mix in the white and RGB LED lighting along with the eight included discs (so maybe it’s more like a Viewfinder than a kaleidoscope) to change what’s being displayed.

What about smarts?

We all know that Govee is all about connecting their products in so you can leverage some smart connections. The Govee Galaxy Light Projector Pro is no exception to that rule. On a simple level, it’s got a built-in bluetooth speaker, so you can have it play music or white noise. Along with that, you can have the projector go into a sound-sensitive mode, so it could coordinate what’s being projected with your favorite sounds.

The projector itself also has 2.4 GHz WiFi on-board, which means between that and the bluetooth, you’ll see the projector in the Govee app on your phone. With that, you can do things like setup a time to shut it off, or turn it on. Along with that, you can control what color scenes are coming out of the projector (it could just be blasts of color on the wall, if you wanted).

How to get one

It looks like an interesting way to get additional lighting into your space, and if you’re using it in your bedroom, the built-in white noise generation might be an appreciated feature. We’ve not seen these in person yet, but we are working on getting a reviewer in. If you want to get your own Govee Galaxy Light Projector Pro, you can do just that for the MSRP of $179.99 (or the end-of-year discounted price of $125.99) either over at Amazon, or of course directly from Govee.
