FlipBelt Classic: a fitness belt review

Whatever type of exercise you’re doing – be it walking, running, riding a bike, or hitting the gym – you need a way to keep your stuff organized. At a minimum, you’re bringing your phone along for music and podcasts. Past that, maybe you need to take the house keys and some hydration. Whatever you need to carry, the FlipBelt Classic has you covered.

FlipBelt Classic: what it is

Prior to getting the FlipBelt Classic in, I’d been using a different sort of belt to carry my phone and key. That was a small, stretch zippered pouch that had elastic straps with a clip. In other words, what many of you are familiar with. It gets the job done, but it does limit what you carry.

The FlipBelt Classic, on the other hand, is a completely stretchy loop. Actually, think of it more like a flatted tube, with reinforced openings on the outer surface. With those, you can easily slip in your phone, hook your keys on the include clip (so no worries about those bouncing out), and toss in a small water bottle or even a snack. In other words, it lets you carry what you want, how you want. Just check out this video:

Using the FlipBelt Classic

For me, I put the FlipBelt Classic to work when I was headed out for my regular walk/jog. First, though, you need to put it on. It is different than those clip belts, as you’re either sliding this over your head down to your waist, or stepping through it and pulling it up. Regardless, once it’s there, it’s firmly in place (just order the size that properly fits your waist).

For heading out, it’s a cinch to slide your phone in, and head out the door. The first time you put the phone in, you’re wondering if those openings are going to be big enough. But, they do stretch, and they’ve got reinforced stitching on either side to help keep things together. And, if you need to get your phone out while you’re out and about, it’s easy enough to slip it out, and then put it back when you’re done.

While I was out, I never felt like the FlipBelt Classic was sliding down or moving around. It definitely held tightly in place, and felt comfortable while I was moving. And again, if you need to carry keys, it does have a built in keyring clip that you can put them on, so no worries about losing in (you could also opt for one of their belts that has a zipper).

Wrapping things up

In short, if you need a comfortable and secure way to carry your stuff – whatever it is – while you’re out exercising, the FlipBelt Classic is definitely something you should be checking out. In fact, I have a suspicion this could easily do double-duty as a travel belt if you needed it to.

While we reviewed the FlipBelt Classic in good old black, that’s just one of fourteen colors/patterns that they offer. The belt itself is available in sizes from XS to XXL, and pricing starts at $37 (if you opt for one of the two reflective colors, those are the top of the range at $43). There are other options, but we thing this a good, solid, all-around sort of a belt. You can find them at Amazon, or of course directly at flipbelt.com
