Bose just announced their latest audio offerings – the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones and Earbuds. As of September 14, these premium devices are available for pre-order, priced at $429 and $299 respectively, with an official launch set for October.
Bose, a brand synonymous with high-end noise-canceling headphones and earbuds, has unveiled the newest iteration of its flagship QuietComfort series. The QuietComfort Ultra line brings with it the introduction of Bose Immersive Audio, a spatial sound system designed to enhance the listening experience. The QuietComfort Ultra series represents an upgrade to Bose’s acclaimed QuietComfort line.
Bose Noise-Cancelling Headphones 700
The Ultra Headphones are set to replace the Bose Noise-Cancelling Headphones 700 as the company’s flagship over-ear headphones. Given that the 700 model is our top pick for the best noise-canceling headphones, expectations for the Ultra series are high. A key innovation in the Ultra series is the introduction of Immersive Audio technology. This feature brings spatial audio to the QuietComfort lineup, recreating the experience of listening to live music or sound through speakers.
As the listener moves their head or walks around, the sound shifts and moves accordingly, providing a dynamic and immersive audio experience. Bose explains the concept behind this new technology: “Traditionally when listening to recorded content through headphones, the soundstage is collapsed into your head between your ears.
Bose Immersive Audio reveals its true depth, spatializing what you’re hearing by virtually placing it in front of you. This effect is enabled by an onboard IMU and newly developed, proprietary Bose digital signal processing software in the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones and Earbuds.”
DESIGN
The design of the QuietComfort headphones has also been updated for added comfort. Initial impressions suggest that these headphones are exceptionally comfortable to wear. While a comprehensive review is yet to be conducted, the noise cancellation feature appears to be highly effective.
The QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds also come equipped with Immersive Audio, promising an immersive spatial audio experience for any stereo sound. This means users can enjoy a spatial audio experience while streaming music, TV, and movies.
While it’s too early to make definitive judgments, the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones and Earbuds are poised to be strong contenders in the race for the best wireless earbuds and headphones of the year.
