Even if you’re not into eSports, you’re undoubtedly aware of just how flooded the market is for gaming chairs. Take a look around, and you’re going to see a lot of the same sort of looks in terms of design. The crew over at ESL Faceit have decided to make things a little different, and have partnered with Anthros to declare it the official chair of ESL.
The Anthros ergonomics
The Anthros chair does things bit differently than most other gaming chairs. Rather than relying on a tall back with cushions/pillows for neck and lower back support, they have a two-part back pad system. There’s a lower back/pelvis support section, and then floating above that is a support for the upper back.
So, rather than it being a chair back that you’re just laying down on (in a sense), this chair wants to contact your back at the precise areas that need support, and leave the rest to have your own body support. Through a proper posture – which this chair should encourage – the necessary parts of your back will be strengthened and engaged. Which means that your back will be healthier, in the long run.
They’ve also got some more common things that we’re used to from our chairs, things like a premium foam cushion to distribute weight evenly, tilt and height adjustments, and arm rests that can be positioned where you need them. For the casters on the base, you can opt to have ones for carpet or hard flooring; you can even select a base option that doesn’t swivel independently of the chair, if you wanted.
Wrapping things up
The Anthros chair has two main configurations – home office look, or gaming setup. By and large, the chairs and their ergonomics are the same, it’s just the finishes on the plastics and materials that are different (you can also opt for a fully custom setup as well); pricing starts at $1749 and is dependent on the options you select. It’s definitely pricey (as compared to your Office Store chair), but for as much as we sit (especially working from home), something with proper ergonomics could be well worth the price. Especially when you consider that these are built in the States, and come with a 12 year warranty. We’re working to get a review unit in, so be on the look out for that review. Also of note – for Black Friday / Cyber Monday, they’ve got some deals going where you’ll get a free foot rest and some other goodies. Check out the range over at anthros.com
