The Misfit Ronin collection wants to wander with you

Earlier today, I wrote about a watch that had some aspects that reminded me of what Misfit produces. Well, what about actual watches from Misfit? They recently announced two new additions to their catalog, with the Misfit Ronin collection.

So, what is a Ronin? Other than a movie with some awesome car chase action scenes (seriously, check it out) it’s a term from feudal Japan. In that setting, a ronin is a wandering samurai without any master. What does that mean in terms of a watch? I’m not sure, perhaps because Misfit has always sort of done their own thing?

As you would expect from a Misfit watch, the two in the Ronin collection – the Command (in 44mm) and Path (36mm) offer up the analog look, albeit in a two-button configuration. They both manage to track activity and sleep, and have an alarm setting as well (silent, vibrating alarms are great for waking up without disturbing others).

The Misfit Path follows along that basic configuration, while the Command brings in some other features that raise the bar. Along with doubling the battery life from 6 months to a year, you get a second time zone tracked, and a subdial that works as a UI for the various modes the watch can be in.

Given the case and strap sizes, the Misfit Command is aimed at the male audience, while the Misfit Path – which is smaller – is aimed at the women. Regardless of the version you’d opt for, they both run at $149 on the silicone strap, and $169 on the bracelet. Those are the list prices – when I was checking the site, I saw that prices were discounted, so you might be able to pick one up for less. Oh, and review samples aren’t available yet, but we’re on the list, so we should be able to give you hands-on impressions in the future. misfit.com
