Tesla has recalled roughly 1.1 million US vehicles, including some 2017-2022 Model 3s, 2020-2021 Model Ys, and 2021-2022 Model S and X vehicles.
The recall was caused spurred by the discovery that the vehicles’ window automatic reversal systems exhibited “greater than expected variations in response to pinch detection.”
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) claimed that the vehicles failed to comply with the requirements of a federal motor vehicle safety standard on power windows.
Tesla stated that starting on September 13, vehicles in production and pre-delivery have been administered a software update that fixes the faulty window safety system.
