TCL, a brand known for its penchant for producing gigantic televisions at affordable prices, has just unveiled its latest addition to the Smart S Class line – the S5. This 98-inch behemoth is priced at a relatively modest $5,000, a price tag that may raise eyebrows until you consider the competition.
Samsung’s 98-inch offering is priced at $8,000, Sony’s X90L will set you back $10,000, and LG’s G2 OLED is a whopping five times the price of the TCL S5. So, what does a $5,000 investment get you? In a word: immersion. The S5 offers a 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) with a variable refresh rate that can reach up to 120Hz. This visual experience is further enhanced by Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ high dynamic range, all encased in a “FullView metal bezel-less” frame that ensures nothing distracts from the screen. The S5’s impressive features don’t end with the visuals. Inside the TV, TCL’s proprietary AiPQ Engine powers the model’s software features, delivering “vibrant color, sharp clarity, and dramatic depth”.
This technology enables the S5 to support a Wide Color Gamut, and when combined with the High Brightness LED Backlight, results in a dynamic picture with high color volume. But the S5 isn’t just a pretty face. It also boasts an audio system consisting of two 15W speakers and a 20W subwoofer, enhanced by Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X for a truly immersive sound experience. For those seeking to elevate their audio experience even further, a soundbar is recommended. The S5 also comes with several entertainment features. It supports 4K 120Hz, has an Auto Game Mode for smooth frame rates and fast response times during gaming, and uses Google TV for streaming from top-tier services.
