Sleep easy with the Wellue O2Ring

We seem to be on the brink of interesting, more medically-oriented gadget releases. We’ve got a number of watches and fitness trackers that can offer detailed ECG-level analysis. What if you’re wondering about how your oxygen levels are doing? That’s where the Wellue O2Ring can help you out.

Certainly, with COVID-19 out there, tracking – or just checking – your oxygen levels has become something that more folks are interested in, as it seems to be an early indicator. But it can also be helpful if you’re dealing with things like COPD, sleep apnea, or even plain-old snoring.

On the tracking front, the Wellue O2Ring keeps track of both your heart rate and your O2 levels as you wear the ring. You can slip it on for quick checks (working best when you’ve got the app up on your phone at the same time) or while you’re sleeping. This can interesting to your own health, as you can see how your HR does overnight, as well as how your O2 levels are. Significant drops in oxygen can indicate some health problems. Which is why the ability to show that charting – either in the app or printed out – with your doctor can be helpful.

In a more practical, day-to-day usage, the Wellue O2Ring has a nice feature that can help you more immediately address any oxygen drops. By that, it has a small vibrating motor. If your oxygen levels drop below a preset level (which you can fine-tune in the app) it will vibrate to wake you up. That way, if it’s some obstruction causing the drop (say, because of snoring) you’ll wake up, move around, and keep those sweet, sweet oxygen molecules flowing into your system.

Admittedly, something like the Wellue O2Ring has a very specific focus, and I think a niche market. For myself, I’ve not had any sort of concerns in this area, and it was nice to test the ring out and verify that, yes, that oxygen seems to be flowing just fine as I sleep. If you want to check your oxygen levels during the day, there are plenty of other (less expensive) devices that will do the same for you. If you’re looking to keep track of it overnight, though, something like the $179 Wellue O2Ring will certainly be a good way to check out what’s going on (short of a full-on sleep study, that is). getwellue.com

  1. I?m having a hard time taking this product seriously for a silly reason: the logo is in Comic Sans. Imagine your surgeon showing up in a bathrobe. A chef who?s smoking a cigarette in the kitchen. It doesn?t mean they?re a bad surgeon or chef. But it?s not a good sign, right?

I wonder if this product is developed by ?Wellue? or if that is a made-up brand to stamp on something they found in Shenzen.
