So, if you recall in our review of the Anker Soundcore Q30 last month, I found a lot to like – and one very major dealbreaker. That was the microphone – it just produced muddy, very muted, sound for anyone listening to you. The very good news is that this has finally been corrected.
On a whim, I checked the Soundcore app on my phone, and wouldn’t you know it, there was a new firmware available – 1.8. I did the necessary to get it downloaded and pushed over to the headset, and tested things out. Both on a voicemail I left for myself, and in calls with co-workers, the audio was crisp and clear.
That means my reservations around recommending the Anker Soundcore Q30 are gone. Sure, you’ve got a choice to make with it and the Q20 (which we reviewed here), but it basically breaks down to the style you want for your headphones and price. Either way you go, I think you’ll be pleased. And for any current Anker Soundcore Q30 owners – get that 1.8 firmware installed as soon as you can. anker.com
