Releasing soon: XGIMI MoGo 2 Pro

In our book, a compact, portable projector can be quite a handy thing to have. We’ve reviewed a few (most recently, here), and have been quite happy using them to show movies around the house and the like. Well, the just-released XGIMI MoGo 2 Pro has a trick that turns the portability knob up to 11.

What is it?

The XGIMI MoGo 2 Pro is, unsurprisingly, an update to the original XGIMI MoGo Pro. Design-wise, it looks much the same, but inside, that’s where the changes have occurred. The brightness possible has been increased, the built-in speakers are more powerful, and how it’s powered has been drastically changed.

Why we think it’s great

Well, at least from the specs (we’ve not seen one in person yet). The really great thing about the XGIMI MoGo 2 Pro is that it’s gone from requiring the good-old DC power brick to relying on the ubiquitous USB-C connector. At home, sure, maybe not that big of a deal. If you want to power this anywhere outside? This is great. You just supply a battery pack that can output at least 65W, and you’ve got movies anywhere. With the built-in speakers, wired and casting options for displaying content, movie night in the backyard just became a cinch.

Want to get one?

Well, you can’t actually get your hands on the XGIMI MoGo 2 Pro just yet. It fully releases on April 25th, but it is up for pre-order. The MSRP on the XGIMI MoGo 2 Pro is $599, while the XGIMI MoGo 2 (which drops the resolution from 1080P to 720P, but is otherwise the same) will go for $399. Then again, if you pre-order, you can knock $50 off the price tag. Check out all the details (and pre-order if you like) at xgimi.com
