Introducing: Husqvarna Automower 415X

Mowing the lawn is just one of those things that have to be done if you’ve got a piece of property. Myself, I view my lawn as nothing but a work and time sink, as it doesn’t provide anything for me. It got a bit better when I cut over from a gas mower to battery-powered one, but still, it’s a chore that just sucks time from the day once a week. So, why not outsource it to a robot? At least, that’s what the folks over at Husqvarna are asking us with their Husqvarna Automower 415X.

The Husqvarna Automower 415X is the newest addition to their line of robotic lawnmowers. How do they work? Well, in my mind, I think of them sort of like a Roomba, except instead of vacuuming up your house, it’s out there cutting the grass. You work with it to map out your lawn, including areas that you want it to avoid (got to save the butterfly garden!). Set out the charging station, and you are good to go. Of course, I am dramatically simplifying what all is involved in the setup. Still, it looks like it shouldn’t be too crazy of a training cycle for it.

The Husqvarna Automower 415X has a lot of additional features built in as well. You really should check out the product page for the full rundown, but here’s a quick summary of the ones I found intriguing:

• The ability to set both working and “stay out” zones
• Control via your phone or your home automation setup
• Electric height adjustment
• Auto-adjusts for the weather, so it mows more when the grass is growing and less when the weather slows growth down

• Easy clean out (just tip it up and spray it out with the hose)
• Built-in theft protection
• Automatic charging

Those are just a few of the highlights. It’s got a lot going for it, and it seems that the Husqvarna Automower 415X fits right in the middle of their range. Though, being the newest, it probably has some goodies built in that the others don’t have just yet.
