So far, when we’ve done reviews of glasses from GUNNAR Optiks, we’ve been focusing on the prescription stuff they offer. They do offer plenty of non-Rx glasses, and that’ve got a number of rather interesting licensing tie-ins. If you’re looking to get a pair that can pull double duty as your Tony Stark cosplay accessory, there’s the Gunnar Stark Industries Edition.
Gunnar Stark Industries: what they are
As you can surmise from the name – and from the photos – these are frames based off of what the character Tony Stark wore in the Marvel movies, specifically in Infinity War. Fittingly, they also come in a heavy-duty metal case, and both the microfiber cloth and storage pouch come with the Stark Industries branding. Then, it’s time to pull them out and cosplay as an Avenger.
Wearing them
First things first – no, you won’t be able to speak to Jarvis once you put the Gunnar Stark Industries on your face. What you will do, of course, is block blue light wavelengths from hitting your eyeballs. These frames are quite generously oversized, which means you’ve got a good-sized field of vision that has the blue light protection. It also means that these are frames that fit quite well on my Hulk-buster sized noggin. These also came with the clearer of the two lens options, which I think works better for a frame like this. Keeps the attention on the frames, not the hue of the lenses.
Wrapping things up
The Gunnar Stark Industries are a fun change of pace for a pair of glasses. Just ask my daughter, who’s favorite character is Iron Man – she got a kick out of seeing these on my face. On the other hand, if you’re not into the Marvel movies, perhaps this is a style that doesn’t click for you. For all of us comic book fans, though, it’s something that will be quickly recognizeable.
