Get charged with Biolite

If you saw that headline, and thought about our review of the Biolite CampStove 2, I’d totally understand that. While the CampStove 2 can certainly help charge your devices (as would the pack on the Biolite FirePit) this is more about electrons not tied to fire. Meet the new Biolite Charge PD family.

With these new power packs, Biolite is making something that just about everyone who heads to the outdoors for a long weekend is thinking about. AKA, a way to keep that phone charged while you’re out. Or, say, a headlamp, like the 750 or 330, or even some small lights around the campsite. Whatever the reason, odds are that you’ll want a battery pack (or two).

The Biolite Charge PD is immediately recognizable from the grey-and-yellow color scheme, and comes in 3 different sizes – 6000 mAh, 10000 mAh, or 20000 mAh. These will of course offer differing charge times (in terms of filling them up). In terms of charging your devices, though, you’ll be covered. You’ve got a USB-C PD port that can push out 18 amps, and two USB-A ports that conform to Quick Charge 3.0, meaning it can push out up to 15 amps. In other words, whatever you’re charging, you can fill it up quickly.

One thing I’m not seeing in the press release is any mention of ruggedization. Sure, batteries are solid state, but for something outdoors-oriented, you’d look for something a bit more robust. Either way, we’re working on getting in a sample, so we’ll be able to tell you what it’s like. The Biolite Charge PD is available now, with pricing at $29.95 / $49.95 / $69.96, depending on the charge capacity you select. bioliteenergy.com
