FORLOH gear for the arctic temperatures

We’ve talked to you about FORLOH gear before, and they’ve got a few new releases that look pretty interesting. Yes, their products are aimed at hunters, and perhaps you’re thinking that’s not what you do, so you’re not interested. Here’s the thing – hunters need gear that keeps them warm when they’re sitting still for long times, but also allows them freedom of movement when it’s time to go. So, it’s actually a good segment to take a look at for warm weather gear, particularly if you’re not interested in looking like you just came off the slopes.

This time around, we’re going to focus on two different types of products. First up, let’s talk about the FORLOH The One Pack. This is a day pack, great for carrying around whatever you might need, whether it’s commuting or out in the woods. To make it a bit more trail-ready, there is a spot setup to put your hydration bladder. What’s particularly interesting about this bag is the fact that it has a fully waterproof (not water resistant) main compartment. That means, if you end up taking an unplanned dip in the lake – or get caught in a downpour – whatever is inside is going to stay nice and dry. Perfect for the outdoors, in our book. And if you do want to take this as your commuter bag? It does have a dedicated laptop section. It’s available for $599 in two different patterns

That’s great for carrying gear, but if you’re cold out there, doesn’t matter how dry your bag can keep things. For that, you’ve got these rather interesting Merino wool options, in both jacket and vest formats. Now, you might be thinking that they don’t look much like a wool jacket (or vest) and you’re right. They look more like quilted hunting jackets with plenty of large pockets to store things. Where the wool comes in is in what the jacket is quilted with. Rather than being filled with poly or down, that’s where the Merino wool comes in. The shell is wind and water resistant, but if the rain penetrates that, you’ll still stay warm. That’s the great thing about wool, is that it can insulate even while it’s wet. Seems to make good sense for these jackets and vests. Oh, you also get some choice and variation in style, as both styles are reversible. The jacket comes in three colors for $399, while the vest runs $329, also in three colorways.

Might as well keep those extremities warmed up too, right? They’ve got a $49 beanie in four colors, and $229 pair of gloves (also in four colors) to help get you all wrapped up and toasty. You can check these out – and all of their other offerings – directly at forloh.com
