Coming soon: G-Shock Virtual World series

I know, you’re thinking if we’re going to talk about non-smart watch, it should be over on WWR, right? Well, hear me out. You see, this new collection is pulling from something that is very much tech oriented: virtual reality. Well, to my eyes, it’s more about the concept of how we tend to visualize VR in our minds, but still, we’ve got some new colors hitting three models in the G-Shock Virtual World series.

The overall color theme is a blue-violet color, offset with teal and hot pink accents. It starts verging towards the 80s with those additional colors, but it still somehow works. Again, I’m looking at these at how my minds eye pictured things when I was reading, say, Snow Crash. So, for me, it just works, and even though it’s a bit more purple then I tend towards in my blues, particularly on the GA700-series model. It’s vibrant without being overbearing, as well as being darker without verging into a “murdered out” model that’s a pain to read.

Having trouble deciphering which watch is which? I know I have that problem keeping the various models separate, given the string of numbers and letters (but hey, that’s retro-future scifi as well in my book). Here’s how the brand lays it out:

Each timepiece of the Virtual World collection upholds the premium design and technical features found on its base models. The GA2100VB-1A features a standout octagonal bezel and thin case featuring a carbon core guard structure, as well a unique light fadeout feature on the dial, while the GA700VB-1A and GA900VB-1A both sport large, rugged cases with metallic dials, hand shift functions, and more. The GA900VB-1A also features black ion-plated screws at the corners of its bezel. All three of the watches include Super LED backlights for enhanced readability, among additional capabilities.

Pricing for this collection starts at $99 and tops out at $140. To check out the full collection (and see which model is which) just head on over to their special landing page. Also of note, these aren’t available quite yet, but should be later this month. gshock.com
