BioLite creates all sorts of interesting outdoors gear, from firepits, cooking stoves, headlamps, lanterns, and even battery packs. That battery pack, we went hands-on with a 10,000 mAh version, but there was also a 20,000 mAh variant available. Since then, devices have gotten more power-hungry, and folks have figured out how you can even power your laptop from these batteries. So, that brings us to the latest from BioLite, the BioLite Charge 100 Max.
BioLite Charge 100 Max: what is it?
If you couldn’t tell from the intro, the BioLite Charge 100 Max is a portable power pack (or portable battery, if you prefer). There are a few key things to note. First, this is a 25,000 mAh battery, which makes it the largest we’ve seen from BioLite as of yet. The “100” in the name stands for the 100W bi-directional charging that it can handle.
This means not only can it push out a lot of power to your laptop, it can also draw it in quickly. They’re estimating that you can take this battery from empty to full in just 90 minutes.
How does it charge?
You’ve got plenty of options with the BioLite Charge 100 Max. You’ve got two USB-C PD ports (great for laptops, phones, and tablets), one regular USB-C port, a USB-A port (for those older devices), and then a MagSafe-compatible wireless charging pad on the top of the power pack. Depending on what you’ve got plugged in where, it should be able to support up to 120W of simultaneous charging across the ports and wireless pad.
While the charge is going – or even just to see where the power level is at – you’ve got yellow LEDs along the side that light up to give you a status bar. And yes, just like we saw in our earlier review, the grey-and-yellow color scheme carries forward here.
