Backyard get-together? The High Camp Firelight 750 can bring your spirits in style

In these weird pandemic days, we seem to be seeking out any way we can (safely) get together. In the pleasant summertime evenings, that no doubt takes the form of a backyard gathering. While your cooler of suds works, what if you want to bring some stronger libations? That trusty camping hip flask isn’t up to the task. The High Camp Firelight 750? It is definitely up to the task!

First off, this is probably the biggest “flask” that you’ve seen. Start throwing specs in there like 18/8 stainless steel and vacuum insulation, you’re probably thinking your coffee mug. Sure, you could do that, but what fun is that? This flask can easily swallow your favorite bottle (the whole thing, all 750 mL). But you get there, and then the question is – who’s got the cups?

The answer is – with the High Camp Firelight 750 – that you have the cups. There’s one magnetically attached onto each end of the flask, so you’re perfectly setup for sharing (and much more sanitarily than passing a flask, I might add). Frankly, while this looks great on the shelf, the Firelight 750 is meant to be where the people are – and these days, that means outside.

So, that’s precisely what I did. We had a backyard gathering with some friends, so I filled it up (the Kirkland Scotch blend, for those keeping score at home) and headed on over. It definitely got a lot of attention, especially once I pulled it from it’s soft cloth cover. Even though we were out in the heat, that vacuum insulation kept things at the right temp.

When it was time to pour, a pleasant surprise – my buddy had ice balls from a mold, so those got popped in, and cheers-ing was had. The 6-shooter tumblers are double-walled, so they definitely did not get cold in the hand (and the could work for the aforementioned coffee if you wanted). It was a great way to bring something along to share with friends, and not have to worry about dealing with glass in the outdoors. Oh, and the inside of the tumblers, with their coating, was a simple cinch to rinse out, pop back onto the flask, and head for home when the evening was over.

Frankly, the High Camp Firelight 750 is a great – and very cool-looking – way to bring your favorite bottle along (be it scotch, wine, or whatever). Or, even if you want to pre-mix something (say, an icy G&T) you could do that, pop in, and have it nice and cold when you get to your destination. Just don’t try freezing the flask, and don’t try putting anything carbonated in there – or you’ll have a bad time.

Once the top is screwed down, things stay tightly sealed, and you know what? Even at home, it will keep if fresh and keep your libation away from the sunlight, if that’s what you’re looking for. I used the High Camp Firelight 750 in the backyard situation, but I also think it could be a handy way to take a bottle along on a longer camping trip, if you were so inclined.

If you think the High Camp Firelight 750 would be a fit for your summer (and I don’t see why it wouldn’t) it’s available in three finishes for $125. If you think you want some extra matching tumblers, you can pick up a pair for $49 (the better to share with!); on the other hand, if you want to bring a smaller quantity along of your 40-year-old single malt, well, they’ve also got a 375 mL version for $85. Whatever the solution is that you need, the High Camp Firelight 750 is a way cooler (and way safer) way to bring your spirits along for the adventure without throwing a bottle in the bag and hoping for the best. highcampflasks.com
