Apple has recently released its Self Service Repair store, which allows more tech savvy consumers to repair and replace their phones’ batteries, screens, speakers, and more with genuine apple parts.
While a big win for consumers worldwide, the store is not without its flaws. The prices are, expectedly, higher than on third party sellers’ websites, to a large degree. Additionally, in order to use the parts you order from the site, you will have to rent their phone specific tool kit, which you’ll have to return after 7 days.
All in all, if you want to fix your own phone but don’t feel safe with using non-genuine parts, Apple’s Self Service Repair Store may be just the thing for you. For those who don’t mind the less genuine parts however, save your money and order from sites like iFixIt, your wallet will thank you.
