In what can only be termed an October surprise, Apple has quietly released the AirPods Pro, a set of $249 wireless earbuds that will sell for $249. The pods will ship in October.
Apple’s new “Pro” AirPods have active noise canceling and are completely waterproof. Plastic tips will mold to the shape of your ear and a built-in tuning system allows the system to tell you exactly what size tip to use and then how to model the sound to your particular ear shape.
Quoth Apple:
AirPods Pro are the only in-ear headphones with Active Noise Cancellation that continuously adapts to the geometry of your ear and the fit of the ear tips ? blocking out the world so you can focus on what you?re listening to.
The wee pods also support wireless charging and Siri and have a transparency model that turns off noise cancelling with a tap. Why all this makes the Pro is anyone’s guess but they certainly are pretty.
