Apple enthusiasts are in for a treat as the tech giant rolls out significant updates to its operating system across most devices, with Mac users having to hold their breath a little longer. The update comes just in time for the launch of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2, set to hit the market later this week.

The company has already released watchOS 10, available for installation on Apple Watch Series 4 and later models. A key highlight of the update is the introduction of widgets for every watch face, reminiscent of the Glances feature from Apple’s original wearable.

These widgets, including two new additions, can be accessed and cycled through using the Digital Crown, providing quick access to features like timers, stopwatches, and podcasts when active. The World Clock app now offers a more intuitive understanding of global time zones, courtesy of dynamic background colors.

Meanwhile, the Activity app has been enhanced with corner shortcuts, allowing users to rotate the crown to view more data. Cyclists can rejoice as the update allows for connectivity with Bluetooth bike sensors, enabling more comprehensive tracking. Updates have also been rolled out for the Compass, Mindfulness, and Medications apps.

FaceTime users will appreciate two significant updates: the ability to view FaceTime video messages directly on the Watch and join Group FaceTime audio calls. The upcoming Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 are set to enjoy some exclusive features powered by the new S9 SiP. These include on-device processing of Siri requests, bypassing the need for Apple’s servers, and a new Double Tap feature designed to simplify the execution of main actions in each app.

These devices are scheduled to be available from September 22.
