There’s just something about the classic pair of adidas. No, the shoes we’re talking about today are not the perennial favorite Sambas, but they’re still just as identifiable. Meet the SUPERSTAR 82 GTX atmos GID-SNK.
The history
This pair of shoes has a double callback in them. They’re drawing inspiration from the Superstar 82 model (from 1982), which itself was an update of the original 1970s Superstar. Whether or not you’re familiar with the style elements, there are two very interesting details you’ll want to be aware of.
What does GID mean?
First and foremost, it’s the GID-SNK part of the name of the SUPERSTAR 82 GTX atmos GID-SNK. What this is is a glow-in-the-dark snakeskin pattern that’s applied to the side stripes and the heel, which makes for a very unique look. The other change is a bit less visible, other than the branding on the side of the shoes.
Ready for all the weather
The SUPERSTAR 82 GTX atmos GID-SNK have Goretex built in. What does that mean for you? You’ve got a pair of sneakers that are both water- and wind-proof, while still letting your feet breathe. This means that these are going to be the perfect sneakers for those rainy days. They’re available for 18,700 yen (approximately $120). If that sounds good to you, check it out at atmos-tokyo.com
