As we mentioned in an earlier article (and by closely looking at the can artwork), 805 is a new line of beers coming to us from Firestone Walker that started 25 years ago back in California. With 805, this frees them up to explore other styles and flavors, and we just got to try out the 805 Cerveza.
One one hand, it’s some clever naming if you know Spanish – cerveza is simply ‘beer’. And that’s what 805 has done here – they’ve created a simple, clean and crisp beer with just a hint of lime in it for you. And at just 4.5% ABV and 110 calories for a 12 oz can, you’ve got a very flavorful alternative to those light beers out there.
Poured into a glass, you’ve got a mild lime scent that greets you, followed by that of, well, cold beer. Take that first sip, and the scents translate directly into the flavor. It’s a crisp affair all around, bringing you back to the flavor of the first beer you ever tried, as opposed to the complex flavor combinations we can find out there now. After that clean beer flavor goes through, then you get that hint of lime, and things close out with a very wheaty or bready aftertaste.
I was not sure what to expect going into the 805 Cerveza, but came away very pleased with the experience. With a 6-pack going for $10.99 at my local shops, this is one you can pick up to stock the cooler for the cookout, and everyone should be good to go. Check out all the details over at 805beer.com
