1More Audio Sonoflow SE Headphones: In Review

Earlier this year, we went hands-on with the 1More Audio Sonoflow ANC Headphones (you can read that here). We came away quite impressed with that headset (and I’ve been using it regularly for work since then), so when we got word that a new version was coming out, we were all set to test them out. Let’s dig into the 1More Audio Sonoflow SE Headphones.

How they’re different

That’s the question that you should ask of any product that’s a new version of what came before. In this case, we’re comparing the 1More Audio Sonoflow SE Headphones against the version we reviewed back in the summer. The first thing that you’ll immediately notice is that there is no wired connection available. So, if you’re not trying to plug into your phone/tablet, or say onto the plane, then you won’t miss that connector. Button placement (and style) is also a bit different, so if you’re swapping between the two, it’s not exactly seamless.

Along with dropping the wired connection, there are a few internal changes made on the headset. For one, they can’t do Hi-Res Audio, and it doesn’t have support for the LDAC codec. If those last few things don’t sound familiar to you, odds are you won’t miss them. One last thing to note is that the 1More Audio Sonoflow SE Headphones does not come with a carrying case, so you’ll want to source one of those.

How they’re the same

While there are some internal changes to the 1More Audio Sonoflow SE Headphones, there’s a lot that is quite similar. They look a lot alike, and they are a very comfortable wear, even on an oversized noggin like my own. You’ve got the same audio hardware pushing the tunes, and the battery life is identical as well. In other words, these two headsets are very much the same. Of course, dropping the wired connection and CODEC support makes things a touch more affordable (more on that in a bit).

What they’re like in day-to-day

When we got the 1More Audio Sonoflow SE Headphones in, I quickly put them to work at, well, work. They went into my work bag, and I was using them at the office to cut down noise, as well as to be on calls. In short, they worked just as well as the prior version, both in terms of noise cancelling and audio reproduction. Comfort is top-notch, even when wearing them across the whole day.

Why to consider these

For myself, I like having the flexibility to be able to plug in a wire on a headset. However, if you’re never thinking you’ll want or need to do that, then the 1More Audio Sonoflow SE Headphones makes a compelling argument. At their regular price of $59.99, you’re about 40% less expensive than the non-SE version – and that’s a case for it right there. Of course, since it’s the end of the year, there’s a sale going on that brings the price down even more, to $46.99. You can get them on Amazon, or directly from 1more.com
